SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) is a new Broadband Service There is no need to have both a copper phone line and ADSL or Fibre Broadband as well when using SoGEA Broadband. Note that VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) or a hosted telephony platform will need to be used to make and receive phone calls using this new technology.

Utilises existing Infrastructure

As the UK moves to an all-IP network, the capability of SoGEA to utilise the same geographical availability and infrastructure as FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) Broadband is an extremely important factor in adopting this new technology. It also provides the same data rates and quick performance that FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) Broadband does.

Costs are lower

The cost of having a phone line and broadband is more expensive than SoGEA. This is due to the fact that you will only be charged for broadband data connection. Landline rental costs will no longer be incurred. This will lower your costs considerably.

Fixing Times are reduced

Only one provider will need to be contacted to arrange repair of a fault and this makes fixing times quicker and easier.

More reliable service

Although the performance of SoGEA Broadband is the same as FTTC, the reliability and stability of the Broadband will be much improved as less interference will occur, and unstable connections will be minimised.

Home working is simplified

SoGEA Broadband can be ordered from your provider without a phone line so only one order needs to be processed for your Broadband to be fully functional. This will ensure that working from home is simplified as you can be up and running very quickly as installation will be much faster. Working from home or a hybrid mode of work also requires reliable and stable connection to ensure your work is uninterrupted which SoGEA provides. It also works very well with hosted telephony products.

Choose SoGEA to avoid problems later

It is important to note that by 2025 the entire UK Wholesale Line Rental network will no longer exist. All services will be transferred to the more efficient fibre Broadband network. It will be well worth your while to transfer to SoGEA well in advance and preferably from June 2021 and after. It is an effective solution utilising an existing fibre/copper network which ensures that it will be available to more than 90% of UK premises. It is also important to ensure that the hosting of existing numbers is finalised before your service is switched to SoGEA to avoid losing your telephone numbers. SoGEA also allows you to have a connection agnostic of the PSTN network hence future proofing your business connectivity.
